Company ... Story ...

The “factor time” –
the company history

As an expert for transport and logistics we have experience in dealing with time. One hour can be quite short - if it is about very urgent deliveries. A review of more than 200 years looks completely different.

Allow yourselve a little time. We invite you for an excursion to the company history of F.W.Neukirch.

A horse, a carriage. Many successful stories in this business -which is called logistics today - have begun like this. In 1805 Friedrich Neukirch gets into this business. The young man from Hunte (near Osnabrück) put the foundation-stone for a company in Bremen (Falkenstrasse) which celebrated his 200-year-old jubilee on the 9th September, 2005.

In 1822 Friedrich and his brother Wilhelm are two of the biggest waggoners. Already at the middle of 19-th century they completely supply Germany. The have up to 100 horses under the roof (now in the Findorffstrasse). In addition to that they have their own “smiths”, “Stellmacherei” and “painter's workshop” as well as warehouses.

About 1830 the son Fritz Neukirch takes over the family company. Main business segments furniture and heavy goods transport as well as real estate management. In the course of technical development of railways Fritz Neukirch is successful as a forwarding agent for example with transports for the North German Lloyd.

The furniture forwarding agency and the heavy transport department booms: In the 90s of the 19-th century a period of bloom experiences of the transport company. F.W. Neukirch gets the "bahnamtliche Rollfuhrgeschäft". The forwarding agency has also got into the seaport business. In 1901 Neukirch occupies 258 employees. In addition to this the company purchases 20 vehicles - and already offers complete services.

After the 1st world war the company becomes a German Stock Corporation. In the middle of the 30s the Bohne Gruppe takes over the company. Already in 1938 the forwarding agency is fully motorised.

In 1974 (after disentanglement of the family company from the insolvent Bohne Gruppe) there is the base for a restructuring. From now on F.W. Neukirch trades as a GmbH und Co. KG. In 1977 the company moves to the today's generous company area in the industrial area of Bremen- Mahndorf.

The window of opportunities opens with new strategical measures and cooperations. In 1995 Neukirch founds the " Econ society for East Europe logistics "together with eight middle-sized forwarding agency enterprises, in 1998 follows the opening of the depot 28 of German Parcel. Now Neukirch is also a main companion of the Bremen parcel logistic. Since 2000 the enterprise a companion of the European network Elix (European Logistix GmbH) and since 2002 24plus system partner in Bremen.

Other milestones in the successful history are the introduction of the new Europe terminal in 2001 (daily load up to 500 metric tons of consolidated cargo 3,000 square metres) and the computer based automatic warehouse with 20,000 pallet lots (2003). With the opening of an office in Shanghai in 2005 F.W. Neukirch also shows presence at the future market Far East.

Also the national expansion takes place at F.W. Neukirch; in April, 2007 a selling agency opens in Mülheim a.d. Ruhr to deepen the contact to existing customers as well as to develop new business.

An new sales office in Oldenburg is opened on 1st of May, 2007 for the acquisition of office and employee moves.

The department European road traffic becomes a new owner on the 1st of July, 2007. The F.W. Neukirch Speditions GmbH which is a new shareholder is Schenker Deutschland AG. This means to focus on the core competence for FWN. The F.W. Neukirch (GmbH und Co.) KG will concentrate on the departments of warehouse logistics, airfreight and sea cargo, removals and heavy transports as well as the carrier's business with FWN Transport GmbH.

Likewise to the 1st of July, 2007 the F.W.Neukirch (GmbH und Co.) KG (FWN) takes over the Schiffahrts-und Befrachtungskontor Märker GmbH. Core competence of the barge specialist Märker (who celebrates his 35-year-old existence this year) is the planning, realisation and placement of dry good transports on European inland waterways. With the takeover FWN wants to open other options and capacities for the transport of heavy property and bulk goods in the European inland waterways and in the shortsea traffic for the customers. The General manager of Märker becomes a FWN authorised attorney for special traffic, Sven Bley.

To the 1st of November, 2007 the F. W. Neukirch (GmbH & Co) KG takes over the Friedrich Radermacher Spedition, Selm (Westfalia). Friedrich Radermacher Spedition GmbH is a specialist for national and international liquid goods transports for the chemical industry. With this merger FWN strengthens its presence in the Rhine-Ruhr- area. FWN pursues strictly its long term invested strategy as a service provider for logistic special markets. Radermacher therefore is another important component in the service portfolio. General manager of Radermacher besides Bruno Kruth becomes Sven Bley.
