General information regarding data protection

Data processing when accessing websites

When accessing a website, a large-amount of data – also personal information – is automatically transferred via the Internet. From a technical point of view, this transfer is necessary on the one hand, to allow the webpage to be called-up in the first place, and on the other, to be able to provide you with the best-possible result.

For example, every time a webpage is opened, a picture is called-up on a server, an external plug-in (or script) is loaded or a video is streamed, or one of the other many possibilities of transferring data is used, information is automatically sent from your computer to the server which you have called-up to get what you are looking for. When you open a webpage, your browser (for example, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Edge, Opera, Safari) automatically sends particular information about your computer system. Examples of such information are shown below:

  • Website from which the webpage or file (picture, script, video) was accessed or which is embedded into the file (Referrer)
  • Operating system
  • Screen resolution
  • Keyboard layout (language)
  • IP address from which the website and/or data was accessed
  • Name of the website and/or file which has been accessed
  • Time stamp (date and time) of the call
  • Name and version of the browser
  • Volume of date transferred
  • Access status (file transferred, error message)

The above data is logged by every server. The logged data is used, for example, for the following purposes:

  • Protection and supervision of IT security (e.g. to identify attacks from hackers) and for the IT operations
  • Performing of statistical evaluation (about the use of the website)
  • Making improvements to the website
  • Allowing a modified representation of the webpage or file such that is / can be optimised for display on your device

No pseudonymising or anonymising of personal data is used for security logs because otherwise it would not be possible to determine the identity of any possible attackers. In general, the assessment of data for any other purposes is anonymised, and no profile-forming is undertaken. Further information in this regard is to be found below in this privacy notice.

Data Subject

The “data subject” is any person whose personal data is being collected, held or processed. Hereinafter, the “data subject” is also referred to as “website visitor” and “user”.

Information about the rights of data subjects

Each and every data subject can enforce their rights against the data controller. This can be done by e-mail, post or by using the prepared form. Enquires can also be made by telephone, although any such enquiries will only be registered and not answered. The controller will select a suitable form of communication (post, e-mail, other communication form) and will send the responses to the questions raised by the data subject via the chosen form of communication. The said responses to the data subject’s enquiries will be made free of charge. By any over-excessive exercising of the rights of data subjects (e.g. large quantity of enquiries within a short period of time), it is possible for a fee to be charged. The response to an enquiry will be submitted within the mandatory deadline of one month. It is possible for the deadline to be extended in exceptional circumstances (e.g. large number of enquiries or extreme complexity of the enquiry). The extension of the deadline is to be justified. The rights of the data subject are listed below. For ease of clarity, we have listed the separate rights in bullet points. Each of the said points is linked to a more detailed explanation (on the website of HUBIT-Datenschutz).

The data subject must provide authentication of their identity to the data controller in order to ensure that the exertion of the rights of data subjects is legitimate.

On the website of HUBIT-Datenschutz you will find a form which you can use to exercise your rights against us.

Google-Maps

We have integrated the map system from Google-Maps into our website. The map system is interactive and offers you a multitude of options and map functionality.

To permit the displaying of the map service when it is accessed, information is sent from your Internet browser to the provider of the map service. This is the same information which is transferred by the Internet browser when a website or a file is accessed (refer to General Information). The transfer of data occurs regardless of whether you have a Google account or are logged into it. If you are logged into your Google account, the data can be linked / assigned to your user account by Google.

The legal basis for the use of Google maps is Article 6 Paragraph 1 Subparagraph 1 Point (f) of the GDPR. Google has signed up to the EU-Privacy-Shield (https://www.privacyshield.gov/EU-US-Framework).

Google stores data and uses same to improve its services, for advertising and, in some cases, for market research. The precise purpose for the processing of data and detailed information regarding data protection can be found on the Google website (refer to possibilities of appeal and of redress).
